Product ManagerRead About Aka
Aka was born and raised in Georgia, “the country, not the state” as he likes to clarify. During high school, Aka was a professional rugby player, member of the junior Georgian Rugby National Teams and Vice Captain of U-19. In parallel, he was studying in the Guivy Zaldastanishvili American Academy in Tbilisi (#1/best school in Georgia). Upon graduating, Aka was admitted on scholarship to Grinnell College and he pursued education in the US over being a professional athlete.
It was an internship at 24/7 Media in NYC that got Aka interested in advertising technology. After graduating from Grinnell College, Aka began his career as an associate product manager at Xaxis. He was promoted to product manager after successfully rolling out the company intranet and an agency facing tool, as well as building a proprietary product for revenue tracking and reconciliation from scratch.
Within Xaxis, Aka then moved into a newly created role of Global Business Operations Manager for Top 20 Global Clients where he supported top brands on delivering their business outcomes.
Aka then joined Vice Media to help get programmatic off the ground and then moved on to manage and successfully grow Vice Syndication player to a significant revenue source, and in parallel, manage a widely adopted audience product.
